Covid-19 Update:
Our Summer term restarted on Monday 25th April 2022. We have been making music face-to face whilst working within Covid-safe guidelines. This has included changing some of our venues in order to comply with social distancing recommendations – please check class information with the Abingdon Music Centre office before attending a session for the first time. Some of the classes are able to offer the option for members to join the live rehearsal via Zoom. New members are very welcome – please book your FREE taster via the Abingdon Music Centre office.
Please click here for an update on Covid-19 adaptations made for specific classes. If you require further information about your class or would like to book a taster, please contact the Abingdon Music Centre office. Many thanks.
Whilst we were unable to meet in-person some of our groups created some virtual recordings. Please listen here.
Abingdon Music Centre was established over 45 years ago to give the people of Abingdon opportunities to make music, whatever their age or experience. We run a range of music groups for babies and preschoolers, school-age children and adults as well as outreach work in the town. We also host activities on behalf of other groups and 1:1 music lessons. We are a small but growing charity and we are always interested to gather views and ideas from people who would like to make music. For further information or to book a FREE Taster, please contact the Abingdon Music Centre Office.
I started at AMC with baby music when I was 6 months old, and have been supported by the centre ever since. Having benefitted from lessons in recorder, drums and now guitar, I have had the opportunity to learn from the experiences of many fantastic, dedicated teachers. There really is something for everyone, and I would highly recommend AMC to anyone wanting to develop their confidence in music, no matter what stage! |
Both my children have been taking music lessons at Abingdon Music Centre for the past 3 years. My daughter (7 years) does Recorder & Musicianship and my son (10 years) is in Guitar Club. They also attend the half term music workshops which they thoroughly enjoy. The highlight for my children is the summer and Christmas performances in which they get to play for an audience. The music centre offers affordable music lessons for a wide age range. |
Since joining ACCord, I have made friends, connected with people from all walks of life within the community, and most of all had fun. I hadn’t sung with people since I was at school, and ACCord has been so welcoming that my confidence has grown so much. Singing every week with this wonderful group of people has really helped make Abingdon feel like home. |
We have been bringing our daughter to groups at AMC since she was 6 months old. Nearly five years later we are still coming! The class leaders have all been so lovely and are talented teachers as well as musicians. It’s been a joy to meet new friends and see our children’s confidence and love of music blossom. |
