Mini Music Makers

TO START IN SUMMER TERM 2024, PLEASE CONTACT US TO RESERVE A PLACE

For school-aged children in Reception and Year 1

Wednesday afternoons, 3.45-4.25pm

This fun and enjoyable weekly class, taught by experienced musician and qualified music teacher Charlotte Fisher, allows children to progress from our popular Baby & Pre-School music programme (running for over 30 years) and lead into opportunities to learn a specific instrument, individually or within a group, from Year 2 onwards. The group meets during term-time Wednesday after school at Abingdon Music Centre (at Larkmead School).

The class is:

  • a focus for creative energy
  • designed to stimulate and guide the imagination
  • aimed to develop sensitivity and creative ability

Children are taught to:

  • express and share feelings with music
  • develop musical understanding and musicality through singing, instrumental work, movement and games
  • learn to be a musician

Joining us:

New members (in Reception and Year 1) are very welcome. Please contact the Abingdon Music Centre office for further information or to book a FREE taster session.

We have been bringing our daughter to groups at AMC since she was 6 months old. Nearly five years later we are still coming! The class leaders have all been so lovely and are talented teachers as well as musicans. It’s been a joy to meet new friends and see our children’s confidence and love of music blossom.

My daughter attended Baby and Pre-school classes from about 3 months old and then graduated into the after-school Mini Music Makers sessions. In Year 2 she moved into Recorders & Musicianship and has also now started playing the clarinet. My wife and I both play musical instruments and it has been great for our daughter to gain this foundation as a musician from a young age, as well as a lot of fun!
