Recorders & Musicianship

Covid-19 Update: This page reflects our ‘normal’ circumstances. Please click here for an update on how we are running in light of current government guidelines.

Would you like to learn to be a musician?

We offer children in Years 2 to 6 (and beyond) the chance to learn to read music, to play the recorder with others and to learn about notes, tunes and rhythms with a bit of musical history thrown in – all within a very informal atmosphere.

We run weekly small group sessions for a range of abilities, from complete beginners to experienced players. The groups meet during term-time on Tuesdays after school (half-hour sessions starting at 4pm and 4.45pm) at Abingdon Music Centre (at Larkmead School).

Advanced students are offered the opportunity to learn Treble Recorder as an extension to their work on Descant.

Joining us:

We welcome complete beginners and more experienced players. Please contact the Abingdon Music Centre office for further information or to book a FREE taster session.

Performances throughout the year usually include:

  • AMC Summer Festival
  • Abingdon Recorder Extravaganza
  • AMC Christmas Concert

My daughter (7 years) does Recorder & Musicianship and has been taking music lessons at Abingdon Music Centre for the past 3 years. The highlight for my children is the summer and Christmas performances in which they get to play for an audience.
